Cambridge United open Modulek designed training ground building
Modulek are delighted that staff and players at Cambridge
United have started the move into their new building and are experiencing the
benefits already.
It was clear from the outset that the club wanted more than
a building with new facilities. The building was symbolic of the Owners and the
Boards confidence in the club and their aspirations to take the club forward.
Modulek were tasked with designing a building to bring the
whole club together and take on the latest energy efficiency innovations to
deliver a building targeted at BREEAM Excellent standards. A sedum roof, solar
PV, ASHP hot water, heat recovery ventilation, optimum U-values, rainwater harvesting,
and sustainable timber cladding were all components which were included to provide
the highest levels of sustainability for the future of the Club and the local
environment.
Inside the £3.5m facility there are separate changing
facilities for the first team and academy players. A gym, physio and treatment
room, a 30-seat analysis theatre, a laundry and a boot room, a catering kitchen
and a central dining and social area, offices and meeting rooms.
At the opening CEO Alex Tunbridge stated, "Today
marks an important step forward for the Club. Creating training facilities fit
for purpose at this level of the professional game which can help attract,
retain and develop players and staff for the future is fundamental for us
becoming a sustainable League One Club.
