Clowes announced on Friday that he had purchased the company that owns Pride Park, and had given the club a loan allowing the club to meet it's commitments for the start of the season.

It now appears that the club will finally be able to complete a takeover having been in administration since September and had several potential buyers fall through. 

The most recent of these was American businessman Chris Kirchner, who was the preferred bidder and seemed close to completing a deal before it fell through.

The club's joint administrators have confirmed that they expect the deal to be concluded by Wednesday (29th), and that no further point deductions will be enforced by the EFL.

Matters on the pitch will now need to be addressed, as Wayne Rooney announced he was stepping down as manager shortly after Clowes announced their bid to buy the club. 

Having almost led the Rams to survival last season despite a hefty points deduction, Rooney has decided to step back and let the club start fresh with new owners and a new manager.

Liam Rosenior has been appointed interim manager.
