EFL Cup Second Round: Host of Premier League sides face lower league opposition

The draw for the Second Round of the EFL Cup was made of Wednesday evening, with thirteen Premier League sides entering the competition.

Remarkably there were no all Premier League ties draw meaning there's plenty of potential for cup upsets as lower league opposition play host to top flight teams.

The previous round saw a number of upsets with eleven Championship sides knocked out by teams in Leagues One and Two, leaving only eight sides from the second tier remaining following the conclusion of tonight's game between West Brom and Sheffield United.

Four League Two sides will face Premier League opposition in the Second Round, with Stockport hosting Leicester and Tranmere taking on Newcastle, whilst newly promoted sides Nottingham Forest and Fulham will play Grimsby and Crawley respectively.

The remaining seven Premier League sides who are in European contention will join the competition in Round Three.
