Host of Premier League stars including Mo Salah and Son Heung-Min called up for International duty
A number of players from the Premier League will be missing throughout January and potentially February after receiving call ups to play at the AFCON and Asia Cup tournaments.
The tournaments will get underway later this month, with the Asia Cup starting on the 12th January and the AFCON tournament starting on the 13th, with both competitions concluding on the weekend of the 10th February.
Of the 20 teams in the Premier League only World Champions Manchester City and relegation threatened Burnley will be unaffected by the tournaments with no playing personnel leaving, whilst Chelsea, Bournemouth and Aston Villa will only lose one player.
Nottingham Forest will be the most affected with six players called up, whilst Brentford and Wolves will be missing four players each.
The most notable inclusions are Liverpool's Mo Salah, fresh from his stellar display against Newcastle on Monday who will be hoping to win AFCON with Egypt for the first time after penalty heartache against Senegal in the 2021 final.
Tottenham's Son Heung-Min will also be looking to help South Korea to the title at the Asia Cup, having been a beaten finalist in 2015.
