ITV announce record breaking viewing figures for England match
ITV claimed its biggest audience this year, and best Friday viewing figures in more than a decade, for its coverage of England’s World Cup group game against USA.
The match, which ended 0-0, peaked at 18 million viewers across television and non-television devices.
Across television, an average audience of 11.9 million watched ITV’s overall coverage of England v United States, with an average of 15.1 million watching the full match.
ITV said it also had its biggest day of the year for streaming, and third biggest on record, with 18 million streams. It added that the game attracted the biggest 16-34 audience on any channel this year, with 2 million, an 85-per-cent audience share, watching the game.
