League Two: Kenny Jackett and Andy Hessenthaler take backroom roles at Gillingham
League Two's bottom club Gillingham have given roles to experienced managerial pair Kenny Jackett and Andy Hessenthaler.Jackett joins as Director of Football whilst Hessenthaler has become the new Head of Recruitment.
Hassenthaler left his role as manager of Dover Athletic to take the job, having made over 300 appearances for the Gills as a player, as well as three separate spells as a manager. The first of those spells between 2000-2004 saw him take the club to their highest ever league finish of eleventh in the second tier.
Jackett's last role was at Leyton Orient which he left last February, having also had managerial spells at Portsmouth, Millwall, Wolves and Watford among others.
They will work alongside current manager Neil Harris to try and steer the club out of relegation trouble, having picked up only two wins all season and sitting bottom of the league and five points from safety.
