Marcus Rashford leaves young Barrow fan speechless after gesture
Marcus Rashford has left a young Barrow fan speechless after he took a surprise delivery of a PlayStation 5 sent to him by the England star as a thank you for his Christmas Foodbank campaign.
Eight-year-old Joshua was completely overwhelmed when the recently released console, including a copy of hit new game PES2021, was delivered to his house along with a personal letter from Rashford
The incredible gesture from Rashford comes after Joshua set-up the ‘Barrow United’ drive in December and, in conjunction with Barrow AFC Community Trust, collected enough donations to pass on almost 50 Christmas hampers to the local Foodbank.
The young Bluebird supporter’s idea came after he was inspired by the efforts of the England and Manchester United forward, who was awarded an MBE in October for his services to vulnerable children in the UK during the pandemic.
“I just want to say a massive thank you to Marcus Rashford,” beamed Joshua, who attends Newbarns Primary School.
“I am so happy I am just lost for words! It’s an amazing gesture and I couldn’t believe it when I found out – I am over the moon.
“Me and my family will all be watching on Saturday and cheering extra loud for Marcus and the boys against the Ukraine.”
Craig Rutherford, from the Club’s Community Trust, added: “We have all been completely blown away by Joshua’s maturity and empathy towards people who may be in need.
“We’re really happy to have helped him bring his idea to life and we all agree he’s a credit to his parents and his school.”
