Premier League side Everton address takeover situation following comments from potential new owner
Premier League side Everton have confirmed that whilst talks are still ongoing, nothing has been formally agreed between the club and potential owner John Textor.
Everton currently sit bottom of the Premier League after three straight defeats and are separated by goal difference with Southampton as the only two sides yet to take a point.
Several previous interested parties have come and gone over the past couple of years as current owner Farhad Moshiri looks to sell the club, and they have twice had points deducted for breaching the Premier League's financial rules.
Textor currently has a stake in fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace, and has been speaking about his potential takeover at Everton in the media.
In an official statement the club said 'The Club is aware of the comments made by John Textor in relation to a potential purchase of the Club.
While positive conversations and progress continues to be made with Mr Textor to formalise any deal with him, there remains some work to be done to complete the transaction.
Accordingly, the comments made by Mr Textor merely represent his personal view on Club matters.
Everyone at the Club is staying focused on providing the best support possible to Sean and the squad as we head into the weekend’s fixture.'
