In an interview with the Sheffield Star, Chansiri explained the club's current financial position and the potential penalties that could be incurred if they fail to pay their outstanding debts to HMRC and cover players' wages.

“If 20,000 people gave £100 then it’s £2m, and it’d be clear - so we can finish it. That would cover everything, HMRC and the wages. That would need to be done before November 10th if they don’t want to pass the 30 days, but that means that there can be no next time. It’d need to be before to make it safe - if it was on the fifth then there would be 10 days left… If we were to hit 30 days then we’ll get a ban for three windows.”

Chansiri confirmed that any fans who contributed would be paid back 'with interest' once his personal cash flow issues had been resolved, stating that he was owed money that has yet to be paid.

The Thai businessman has took over the Owls in 2015, but since earning promotion back to the Championship last season, the club has been in turmoil both on and off the pitch.

He sacked manager Darren Moore before thes tart of the season and replaced him with Xisco Munoz, the club however made their worst ever start to a League campaign and Munoz was sacked earlier this month.

Chansiri also stated that following criticism from fans over his ownership of the club he was no longer prepared to put money into the club.
