The BBC acquire rights to show Champions League highlights
For the first time the BBC will be able to show highlights of Champions League fixtures, after agreeing a three season package.Following the conclusion of each Wednesday night of Champions League gameweeks, the BBC will be able to show highlights of all games across their social media, BBC Sports website and App, iPlayer, and a regular highlights show on BBC One.
The rights to broadcast Champions League matches live this season are with streaming service Amazon Prime and TNT Sport.
This is the debut season of the newly restructured Champions League format that will see 36 teams compete in a League format.
Each team will be drawn against eight opponents from seeded pots and their results will reflect in the overall table. The top eight finishers in the table will go through to the last 16, whilst 9th-24th will face each other in a Play-off round.
This change to the format also applies to Uefa's other club competitions, the Europa League and Europa Conference League.
