The FA to introduce points deductions in grassroots game for repeated misconduct
The FA have announced that from the start of the 2023/24 season, teams at grassroots level who are repeatedly charged with misconduct could receive a points deduction.In an effort to clamp down on discrimination and physical and verbal abuse towards match officials, the FA has introduced new guidelines that will see clubs docked points if their players and/or coaching staff are repeat offenders.
Points deductions can range from 3-12 depending on the frequency and severity of the offences during a 12 month period.
This new disciplinary process will to clubs at Step 7 and below in the men's game, and Tier 3 and below in the women's pyramid.
Clubs could potentially be docked the points during a season or depending on when the disciplinary process is completed they could be carried to the following season.
