Uefa confirm UK and Ireland as Euro 2028 hosts

Uefa have formally announced that the UK and Ireland will host the Euro 2028 tournament.

The announcement has come as a mere formality given that the joint bid was the only one remaining.

Turkey pulled their bid in order to focus on a joint bid for Euro 2032 with Italy, which was also confirmed by Uefa.

That means the tournament will be hosting a range of venues across England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and the Republic of Ireland.

The venues that will host games during the tournament are as follows:

Wembley Stadium (London)
The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (London)
The Principality Stadium (Cardiff)
The Aviva Stadium (Dublin)
Hampden Park (Glasgow)
Casement Park (Belfast)
The Etihad Stadium (Manchester)
St James Park (Newscatle)
Everton Stadium (Liverpool)
Villa Park (Birmingham)

Both Wembley and Hampden Park have recent experience hosting tournament matches during the delayed Euro 2020 tournament, with the final held at Wembley as England were beaten on penalties by Italy.

Two of the stadiums that will be used during the tournament are yet to be completed, with Everton's new stadium on Bramley Moore Dock scheduled to open next season, whilst Belfast's Casement Park has yet to be rebuilt.
