Wigan Athletic confirm Sports Interactive as new back of shirt sponsor
Wigan Athletic have confirmed Sports Interactive as the latest headline partner, with the Football Manager logo to feature on the back of Latics’ 2021/22 home and away shirts.
The deal has been announced just before Wigan's Sky Bet League One ‘Football Manager Derby’ with AFC Wimbledon, who have been partners with SI since the Club’s inception in 2002
As a result of the link up, Latics supporters will be able to get their hands on Football Manager 2022 in Latics Store from the release date of Tuesday 9 November.
Supporters who purchase a copy of Football Manager 2022 from Latics Store will be entitled to have the logo added to their 2021/22 Wigan Athletic shirt free of charge.
Wigan Athletic chief executive Mal Brannigan said of the partnership:
“Clearly Football Manager needs no introduction, and I am sure many supporters – as well as our players and staff – have spent hours playing the game over the years and look forward to the release of this year’s edition in just over two weeks’ time.
“We are delighted to secure a partnership with a brand as established and successful as Sports Interactive, and we thank Tom Markham [non-executive director] for his role in initiating the collaboration.
“The journey of growth that Football Manager continues to enjoy is incredible and I think we can only learn and benefit from the expertise in many fields - including data, analytics, commercial and digital - that this relationship can open for us.”
Miles Jacobson OBE, Studio Director at Sports Interactive, said:
“We are delighted to be partnering with Wigan Athletic and for the Football Manager logo to feature on the Club’s shirts.
“Tom Markham has informed us first-hand of the Phoenix 2021’s vision and we are excited to be involved in this new chapter for the Club. We wish Leam [Richardson] and the team all the best of the remainder of the season.”
